The organization has highlighted the success of its Enterprise Documentary Fund, which it initially unveiled at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017. Since then, the IDA notes that it has awarded over $3 million in grants to 60 productions, with these being led by both emerging and established filmmakers.
Speaking about the fund, the organization notes that it was established to help filmmakers overcome challenges as they tackle what may be deemed high-risk stories. The IDA also highlights that a director or producer of color led 68 percent of the projects to which it has awarded grants and 76 percent of the projects it has helped finance had a female director or producer.
